“Christmas is not a time or a season but, a state of mind.  To cherish peace and good will, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”  – U.S. President, Calvin Coolidge

As a member of the Worldwide Santa Claus Network, Santa Nana University, and the International Brotherhood of Real Bearded Santa’s and Mrs. Claus’, Northern Nevada’s Mrs. Lollie Claus and Lollipop the Elf are proud to share over 40 years of performing and entertainer experience to bring the spirit and joy of the season to life.

The first mention of Mrs. Claus appears in the 1849 short story “A Christmas Legend” by missionary James Rees, in which a couple disguise themselves, angel-like, as travelers, and seek shelter with a family. As it turns out, the two strangers are not the Clauses at all, but long-lost family members in double disguise.

The year 2020 created challenges for many.  Performers and entertainers suddenly found themselves seeking new ways to share their skills with audiences as live productions were halted.  An opportunity to be a virtual Mrs. Claus presented itself and with much excitement Mrs. Lollie Claus was born.  With a passion to bring the character alive for young and old at different venues and events Mrs. Lollie Claus partnered with her longtime friend, Nevada Santa, to help spread the spirit of Christmas all year long.

Since 1981 Carla Wilson, Mrs. Lollie Claus, has performed in community and semi-professional musical and non-musical stage productions throughout northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe.  Some of her most notable roles were in productions with Western Nevada Musical Theater Company and Proscenium Players in Carson City along with one season in the chorus with the Nevada Opera.  She has also directed many community theater productions and murder mystery dinner theater locally.  Over the past 5 years her performing career has expanded into film doing commercials for local companies such as Mountain Mortuary and Renown Hospital along with roles in locally produced short films and film series productions.

In 2011 the spirit of Christmas took a hold on her passion for performing and combined it with using her talents to bring joy, love, and happiness to all she could when she joined the cast of the V&T Railway Commission’s Polar Express™ Train Ride Event. This magic of the season led to the birth of Lollipop the Elf on Polar Express and as lead entertainer on the Virginia-Truckee Railroad’s Candy Cane Express a role she continues to perform on the Candy Cane Express.  Along with these events, Lollipop the Elf shared her spirit with charitable groups such as Food for Thought in Carson City.

Since 2017 Carla has been Production Director of the Polar Express™ Train Ride Event here in Carson City. Her passion for using her creative talents was again fueled by the magic of the spirit of Christmas in a different capacity. While Carla still holds this position in 2021, her alter egos of Mrs. Lollie Claus and Lollipop the Elf agree with Buddy the Elf that “The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.”  I hope to spend many years spreading Christmas cheer and singing carols with all of you.
